The Plateau is more than a place to live. It is a landscape with a story of its own. Once an untouched natural environment and later marked by the gold rush, it is now entering a new chapter, one shaped by care, regeneration and hope. Our vision is to restore balance to the landscape, nurture its native ecology and create a place where people and wildlife can thrive together. The Plateau is an invitation to become part of that story, to care for the land, live lightly upon it and help shape a more restorative future. Our Vision for the land Life within the landscape The Nancy Wake Walking Track A private three-kilometre walking track winds through The Plateau, reserved for owners and their guests. Named in tribute to Nancy Wake, the track honours her courage, sacrifice and fierce commitment to protecting others. Her story resonates with our own belief in guardianship and our responsibility to protect and restore the natural landscape around us. Following the natural contours of the land, the track passes through native bush and regenerating landscape, surrounded by indigenous flora, forest shade and birdsong. It offers a quiet place to walk, pause and reconnect with nature, making the landscape part of everyday life. A Sanctuary for Native Birdlife The Plateau’s restoration vision extends beyond the land itself to the wildlife that calls it home. Freshwater ponds, preserved indigenous bush and ongoing native planting will create food, shelter and protected habitat for local birdlife. A dedicated bird sanctuary will support the return and growth of native bird populations, strengthening the biodiversity of the landscape and allowing birdsong to remain an enduring part of life at The Plateau. • Our Vision for The Plateau | Hokitika West Coast | NZ

The Plateau sits gently on an elevated site above Hokitika’s rugged coast. It is here that a new way of living emerges - one grounded in kaitiakitanga, in harmony & in deep reverence for the natural world, rooted in healing, stewardship, & harmony with the land. This is not a subdivision - but a Sanctuary. It is a re-visioning, a response, a legacy. A sanctuary for people to rest, reconnect with nature & community & to embrace a slower, more intentional way of living. Simply Elevated Living Our Vision. The Plateau. A place to flourish. The Plateau begins with a belief that thoughtful development can restore more than it disturbs, leaving the land healthier, richer and more resilient over time. Our vision is to create a place where thoughtful architecture, regenerating nature and a like-minded community can exist in quiet balance. A place where homes sit gently within the landscape, native bush is given space to recover, and people can reconnect with nature, with one another and with a slower, more intentional way of living. This is more than a collection of homes. It is a shared commitment to shaping a place of lasting beauty, belonging and care. Our duty of care. Guardians of the land. At The Plateau, kaitiakitanga - guardianship of the land - is not a principle; it is a practice. Every decision at The Plateau is considered in relation to the land, its ecology and the people who will call it home. Rather than imposing a conventional development upon the landscape, we are working with its natural contours, existing vegetation and distinctive West Coast character. Our responsibility is not simply to protect what remains, but to support the land’s continued recovery and regeneration, leaving it stronger and more abundant for the generations that follow. A shared ethos. Living well, together. Sustainability is not a solitary pursuit. It becomes more meaningful when it is supported by a community with shared values and a collective sense of responsibility. At The Plateau, we believe that sustainability thrives in community. Our approach to home design, resource management and landscape care is rooted in shared values and collective responsibility. We prioritize local and responsibly sourced materials, embrace renewable energy, and support regional skills and businesses. By making thoughtful choices, we aim to foster a resilient community, strengthen the local economy, and preserve the distinctive character of West Coast for generations to come. Restoration in action. Allowing nature to return The vision for The Plateau is already taking form through the protection of indigenous bush, the restoration of native habitat and the careful management of invasive plant species. Freshwater ponds and the planned Bird Sanctuary will create protected spaces for native wildlife, supporting the return and growth of local bird populations. As restoration continues, birdsong, native vegetation and healthy natural systems will become an increasingly visible part of everyday life at The Plateau. This is a long-term undertaking, guided by patience, care and respect for the natural rhythms of the land. EXPLORE THE LAND Architecture in service of the land. At The Plateau, homes are not conceived as objects placed upon the landscape, but as thoughtful responses to it. Guided by the contours, climate and character of each site, the architecture will combine high-performing design with organic principles to create homes that feel grounded, enduring and closely connected to nature. The aim is for architecture to sit quietly within the landscape, allowing the land to remain the defining presence. EXPLORE THE HOMES Artists Impression A legacy for the future. The success of The Plateau will not be measured only by the homes created here, but by the health of the landscape, the strength of its ecology and the quality of life it offers. Our hope is to leave a meaningful legacy: a place where architecture belongs, nature flourishes and future generations can experience the quiet beauty of the land. Become part of the vision.
