Our vision is to restore balance to the landscape, nurture its native ecology and create a place where people and wildlife can thrive together. The Plateau is an invitation to become part of that story, to care for the land, live lightly upon it and help shape a more restorative future.
Life within the landscape
The Nancy Wake Walking Track
A private three-kilometre walking track winds through The Plateau, reserved for owners and their guests.
Named in tribute to Nancy Wake, the track honours her courage, sacrifice and fierce commitment to protecting others. Her story resonates with our own belief in guardianship and our responsibility to protect and restore the natural landscape around us.
Following the natural contours of the land, the track passes through native bush and regenerating landscape, surrounded by indigenous flora, forest shade and birdsong. It offers a quiet place to walk, pause and reconnect with nature, making the landscape part of everyday life.
A Sanctuary for Native Birdlife
The Plateau’s restoration vision extends beyond the land itself to the wildlife that calls it home.
Freshwater ponds, preserved indigenous bush and ongoing native planting will create food, shelter and protected habitat for local birdlife. A dedicated bird sanctuary will support the return and growth of native bird populations, strengthening the biodiversity of the landscape and allowing birdsong to remain an enduring part of life at The Plateau.

Set on elevated ground, with its highest points reaching more than 80 metres above sea level, The Plateau opens to expansive outlooks across the Tasman Sea and towards the Southern Alps.
The land’s natural contours and gradients allow rainfall to move through the landscape as intended, supporting natural drainage across the site. Set back and elevated from Hokitika’s coastline, The Plateau offers a sense of openness, privacy and reassurance, while remaining only minutes from town and the airport.

Just minutes away from The Plateau, Hokitika is a welcoming and creative town shaped by its connection to pounamu and a long tradition of artistry and craftsmanship. Its galleries, studios and workshops bring this creative spirit to life, from traditional carving to contemporary art and design.
Beyond Hokitika, the landscape opens into native rainforest, winding rivers, rugged coastline and the vast backdrop of the Southern Alps. Scenic cycle trails and walking tracks offer endless ways to experience it, while fishing, swimming and unhurried days outdoors become part of everyday life. From the turquoise waters of Hokitika Gorge to the region’s wild beaches and mountain landscapes, some of the West Coasts most remarkable places are within easy reach.
