Overview
Architecture
The Plateau architectural design is guided by restraint, balance, and respect for the natural contours and ecology of the site, creating homes that feel rooted, enduring, and quietly in tune with nature.
We have envisaged an aesthetic, using proven building materials and incorporation of passive home construction brilliantly suited to the climate and environment.
The likelihood of predominantly part-time residential status is significant, however the community will be well suited to long term habitation.
Location
The Plateau is perched gently on an elevated area known as Blue Spur. Located above Hokitika’s rugged coast and Tasman Sea to the west, with extensive views towards the Southern Alps to the east.
The elevation and geology of the site provides peace of mind when considering the effects of environmental risks such as floods, seismic activity and weather events.
The site allows 360 degree views of the coast, lush green farmland, pristine native bush and the mountains beyond. The Plateau is conveniently within close proximity to the township of Hokitika.
Accessibility
Hokitika is easily accessible from Christchurch, providing a convenient gateway for international visitors. Its close proximity to the township, Hokitika Airport, and a variety of fantastic West Coast locations and activities it an ideal destination for travellers. Whether you're there for adventure or relaxation, Hokitika has something to offer everyone.
You may prefer the convenience of a short flight or to sit back and enjoy the grandeur of the road trip, either way getting to and from The Plateau is always memorable.
Security
With the likelihood of predominantly part-time residential status at the Plateau, property owners can be reassured that security and safety has been thoroughly considered.
For reasons of privacy, security and preservation of the natural habitat, the community will have a secure gated entrance in keeping with the aesthetic of the environment. Experience tranquility and security in a thoughtfully designed space.
Regeneration
We are aware that careful removal of invasive plants and introduced trees involves identification, safe removal techniques, follow-up treatment to prevent regrowth, and restoration with native species. We favour respect and to nurture regeneration of natural vegetation. The goal is to protect the pristine natural environment, with as little negative impact as possible. Considered identification and assessment of unwanted species of plants, hand removal along with the respectful removal of green waste help us to achieve this goal.
Infrastructure
The Plateau infrastructure boasts a comprehensive network of quality assets and services essential for the community's wellbeing The development of new roadways, pathways, and walking tracks enhances public amenities.
Thoughtfully designed street lighting and eco-friendly storm-water management systems further contribute to a sustainable environment. Together, these elements create a vibrant and accessible community for all.
